These growth charts make a sophisticated and truly meaningful gift for new, and not so new, parents.  Not only will the parents cherish it, the kids will too.

Designed so you don’t miss a milestone!

Growth charts are a wonderful childhood tradition. To the kids, they are tangible evidence of how much they’ve grown.  For parents, they are a sweet memento of their child’s development.  At least, they would be if they didn’t get packed away with the rest of the “baby” stuff just when things were getting interesting.

When my kids were little, I wasn’t thrilled with the flimsy, juvenile charts that were everywhere. Sure, they were adorable, but even if they hadn’t topped out at 4′ I just couldn’t see them surviving a nursery redecoration. I wanted something durable, and moveable, but more individual than a big ruler. I wanted something that they’d be proud to have on display into their teens.  So, I made my own. And I’m so glad I did- my son grew over three inches when he was 13 and I captured it!

Now, I’m offering a growing collection of these fine art growth charts as prints.  These tall format paintings (24″x48″) have one inch marks cleverly incorporated into the design and one foot intervals marked with numbers. They span from 2’2″ to 6’2″, a range of heights that covers most averages from toddling to topped out. (I learned this lesson the hard way: my daughter’s was originally only up to 5’6″ and it wasn’t quite enough so I had to repaint the numbers and re-enter the dates. If you think you are going to have a particularly tall kid, let me know and I can shift the numbers on a custom order). They are available on a variety of solid substrates such as classic canvas, metal, acrylic, and wood to suit any taste and decor.

Hang them at the correct height and mark your child’s growth right on the print.  You can mark the date in pencil (for the timid) or (for the bold) with a Sharpie or paint pen.  Use a dark color on light backgrounds and a light, opaque color on dark backgrounds.  Scared to write directly on the artwork?  I know it seems wrong somehow, but don’t worry! If you are really nervous you can use a stencil, but I would encourage you to use your own writing, or even let your child record the date when they are able. The handwritten record is an interactive element that only enhances this meaningful keepsake.

You’ll treasure it long after they stop growing!
