Hey there! Welcome to Phantasia!  I’m Geneva Price, the creator and curator of this eclectic collection of art.  I am an artist, an author, a mom of two teens and three big fluffy dogs, a teacher, a gardener and flower fanatic, a tea drinker, a (former) lawyer, an archaeologist, a list maker, a reluctant exerciser, a night owl, a shiny object chaser, and all around creative entrepreneur who doesn’t niche very well.

I love brilliant sunsets (I’m never up early enough for sunrises), dramatic cloud formations and thunderstorms, gates and doorways that promise beauty or adventure on the other side, colorful landscapes, and breathtaking beaches. I am drawn to the mystical and exotic and want to believe that dragons and unicorns exist. I cast horoscopes and read Tarot cards, not because I believe it works so much as I think it would be cool if it did. I’m a GenX native southern Californian who has found a new home in North Carolina where there are creeks and rain and just enough of the seasons to be cute. I play piano but can’t sing, ride horses but don’t own one (yet) and often find myself in the company of farm animals (make of that what you will). I can butcher French, German, and Egyptian Hieroglyphs about equally. I like dark chocolate and sweet wines and can tie a cherry stem in a knot with my tongue.  I have a compulsive addiction to art and office supplies, especially anything that comes in a rainbow assortment. When I can’t find exactly what I want (like a perfect planner), I tend to make it myself. I believe that everything looks good with purple, you can learn to do anything if you put in the effort, and that the only limit is what you believe to be impossible.

The one thing that ties all of my work together, whether it is art or writing or teaching, is the joy I find in sharing the experiences, ideas, and emotions I have collected in my careen through life and seeing them resonate with others. That is why I chose Phantasia for the name of my studio.  Phantasia is a Greek word which is usually translated as “imagination” but is really so much more. It is a philosophical idea that describes the almost mystical ability of an artist, whether through word or image or sound, to take something intangible from their own mind and recreate it in the mind of another. I like to think of Phantasia as a place where imagination comes alive. I invite you in to my little corner of Phantasia. Have a cup of tea and stay awhile.
